Good News - Hal is Alive and well!

As posted to DaD:

This just came in from Hal:

“The eye of Katrina — at that point a 25-mile band of
tornadoes! — came directly overhead of my home, and
we lost 24 trees in the yard, many over a hundred feet
high, and have not had power for over nine days now.
We can pump well water with the generator, and so are
supplying many families in the neighborhood with
needed water. Slowly the streets are being cleared
and power restored, so today I was able to drive to
the local university that has power generators and
Internet connections.”

“… please pass along the word to DaD and any others
who are interested that I am alive and well. However,
I will be without power and phone service (it was
actually working but a road crew clearing trees off
the
powerlines accidentally cut our cable 8′( for some
time yet. Comcast, my Internet provider, may be
longer still, but soon I will have time here to reply
more fully.”

Hal says there will not be any Friday Night Fantasy
Concert tomorrow, but he’s hoping for next week. I’ve
asked that he not worry about our little radio station
and focus on providing help to those who need it in
his own community. I’m just happy to hear that Hal is
alive and well in Hattiesburg MS.
