The Collapse of the EZT community
If you are a high tech low life illegally selling live CD and DVD recordings on eBay, you can expect you business to boom shortly. Thanks to some official looking letters sent by some lawyers, EZT closed its doors after it was given a warning by its ISP. Apparently the ISP had recevied several legally threatening letters and gave EZT about 10 minutes to shut down operations.
This left a community of thousands who freely traded live and rare recordings, that were NOT commercially available, to try to find other sources for their music fix. There are other similar forums, but none had established the vareity of music like EZT had, or STG before them. What does that mean to all those music fans who are hoping to get a copy of that concert they just went to last night? eBay. Exactly what most bands and logically thinking people would want to avoid.
This may also have a detrimental impact on our Friday Night Fantasy Concert series as well, since our goal was to always provide lossless versions of the shows via BitTorrent and EZT was our medium for that.
Damn shame.
